Cape Town wine area covers Constantia, Hout Bay, Durbanville and Philadelphia and its furthest point is only 36km from Cape Town, so a relatively small area, with some of the wineries amongst the most famous and loved South African one. Savignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon prosper in the northern zones, with Sauvignon and Semillon flourishing in the southern, coastal areas.
